This is Ukraine today – September 8

Maidan Community Sector, Lviv: Dear friends!

War, not the expected peace arrived at the doorstep of Great Britain and France when they gave up Czechoslovakia to Hitler in 1938. War is happening right here at home and not in faraway Europe – the United States were harshly reminded about this at Pearl Harbor in 1942. War descended on Ukraine and thus is now much closer to Paris and Berlin, because Europe and the US haven’t supported Georgia in 2008. War showed up in the homes of Dutch, British, French, German, Australian families because Europe and the US weren’t courageous enough to lend a helping hand to Ukraine in 2014. It is impossible to run away from war and overwhelming aggression, it is impossible to buy yourself off. The war will catch up with you if you don’t stand up to it with utmost determination.

September 8 – President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has said that after the announcement of his visit to Mariupol, the terrorists shelled the roadblocks set up by Ukrainian troops. However, the President still chose to visit this city, because it became a symbol of resistance to invaders.

September 8 – NATO recorded increasing participation of the Russian army in the conflict in Donbas, – said Deputy Secretary-General of NATO Alexander Vershbow

September 8 – Svyatoslav Tsegolko, press-secretary to the President of Ukraine, has informed that 648 people have been released from captivity to date and it is planned that 500 more will be released.

September 8 – Ukrainian military are adhering to the ceasefire unilaterally, whereas the terrorists continue to shell the positions and checkpoints of the ATO forces in Nyzhnia Krynka, Avdiyivka, Popasna, Nikisheno, Mayorsk, Kirov, Fashchivka.

September 8 – The essence of Minsk agreements: a third of the occupied territory of Donbas will receive a special status, but they remain a part of Ukraine (more likely only formally), – said the leader of the “Petro Poroshenko Party Block” and an Advisor to the President Yuriy Lutsenko. According to Lutsenko, this area could be isolated and surrounded with engineering constructions. Thus Putin has achieved what he has been planning – legalization of another “transnistria”. Crimea is not mentioned in Minsk agreements. Does this mean that Donbas and Crimea has been betrayed by everyone – our leaders and our allies?
