This is Ukraine today – September 24

Maidan Community Sector, Lviv: Dear friends!

War, not the expected peace arrived at the doorstep of Great Britain and France when they gave up Czechoslovakia to Hitler in 1938. War is happening right here at home and not in faraway Europe – the United States were harshly reminded about this at Pearl Harbor in 1942. War descended on Ukraine and thus is now much closer to Paris and Berlin, because Europe and the US haven’t supported Georgia in 2008. War showed up in the homes of Dutch, British, French, German, Australian families because Europe and the US weren’t courageous enough to lend a helping hand to Ukraine in 2014. It is impossible to run away from war and overwhelming aggression, it is impossible to buy yourself off. The war will catch up with you if you don’t stand up to it with utmost determination.

September 24 – Russian soldiers, killed in Ukraine, are dismissed from the service in Russia’s Ministry of Defense retroactively, which deprives their families of benefits and other payments, – says Russian activist Elena Vasilieva, who collects information on victims of undeclared war.

September 24 – Russia plans to send another “humanitarian convoy” to Donbas, – says Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Vladimir Stepanov. Military analysts believe that these “humanitarian convoy” result in the increased bombardments by Russian troops still remaining in Ukraine – apparently this is just a simple way to deliver ammunition to Russian military units.

September 24 – “Naftogaz” of Ukraine does not exclude the possibility that a single natural gas price will be established for all types of consumers in Ukraine in 2014, which will lead to prices quadrupling fourfold for regular citizens, – says Deputy Chairman of “Naftogaz” Oleksandr Todiychuk.

September 24 – Russian terrorists continue artillery shelling of Donbas.

September 24 – Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov has asked the UN to establish a special permanent mission in Crimea (annexed by Russia) in view of the systemic violation of the rights of indigenous people of Crimea – Crimean Tatars.

September 24 – Ukraine has paid its external debt to the amount of another 75 million US$.

September 24 – Russian troops are rotating military units but not withdrawing them from Ukraine, said NSDC spokesman Andriy Lysenko.
