War, not the expected peace arrived at the doorstep of Great Britain and France when they gave up Czechoslovakia to Hitler in 1938. War is happening right here at home and not in faraway Europe – the United States were harshly reminded about this at Pearl Harbor in 1942. War descended on Ukraine and thus is now much closer to Paris and Berlin, because Europe and the US haven’t supported Georgia in 2008. War showed up in the homes of Dutch, British, French, German, Australian families because Europe and the US weren’t courageous enough to lend a helping hand to Ukraine in 2014. It is impossible to run away from war and overwhelming aggression, it is impossible to buy yourself off. The war will catch up with you if you don’t stand up to it with utmost determination.
August 29 – Two seriously wounded Ukrainian officers-antiaircraft gunners (Major Oleksander Kandesyuk and Major Oleksiy Shepeliuk) blew themselves up along with 12 Russian paratroopers, – informs the press-service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine
August 29 – Commander of Ukrainian battalion “Azov” Andriy Biletskyi: “This war is not like the war in Chechnya or Afghanistan, this is… a full-scale industrial age war. Main type of battle is combined battle. Key weapons are artillery and tanks. Fighting with guns against such weapons is like swimming across the Pacific Ocean in an inflatable boat… We must prepare for a long-term campaign and approach it will all the seriousness. The enemy is very strong.”
August 29 – Near Ilovaisk, ATO servicemen were attacked by 7 Russian tanks and an infantry battalion; Ukrainians turned the enemy back and took 12 Russians as prisoners.
August 29 – “Information resistance” group is currently observing the presence of the following Russian troops in Donbas: 3 battalion-tactical groups and 2 tank battalions of the Russian Army (5 battalion-tactical groups and 3 tank battalion is the maximum noticed). 8-10 sabotage and reconnaissance groups of Russian special forces are also operating in the region.
August 29 – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia wasn’t provided with evidence of its invasion of Ukraine.
August 29 – If qualified, Ukraine may join NATO in the future, – said the Secretary General of the Alliance, Anders Fogh Rasmussen during the press conference after the meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission. This is how he commented on Ukrainian government’s rejection of the non-aligned status.
August 29 – When travelling to support ATO forces, a joint column consisting of the units of the National Guards and Armed Forces of Ukraine was ambushed by the enemy en route Debaltseve-Vuglegirsk – 4 soldiers were killed, 19 injured.
August 29 – “Military intervention” by Russia in connection with the recent events in Ukraine was mentioned by the German government for the first time by the spokesman of the German government Steffen Seibert (Deutche Welle).
