The 522nd day of the Russia-Ukraine War: official operational information by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on 30.07.2023.

Russian troops’ attacks on the civilian infrastructure in Ukraine

During the day, the Russian army carried out 4 missile and 34 aviation strikes. Specifically, it used 4 Shahed-136 attack drones, all of which were destroyed. Additionally, Russia conducted 37 shelling attacks with rocket artillery on the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, there were casualties among the civilian population, and residential buildings suffered damage.

The probability of missile and aviation strikes throughout the territory of Ukraine remains high.

During the day, there were around 20 military clashes.

  • In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remains unchanged with no significant changes. There are no signs of Russia’s forming offensive groups. Belarusian units have been identified operating in border areas with Ukraine.
  • In the Siversk and Slobozhansk directions, the Russian army conducted artillery and mortar shelling on over 25 populated areas, including Buchky and Hremyach in Chernihiv Oblast, Porokhon and Sytne in Sumy Oblast, and Veterynarne, Kozacha Lopan, and Vovchanske in Kharkiv Oblast.
  • In the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian troops are holding their defense steadfastly and successfully repelled Russian attacks east of Berestove in Kharkiv Oblast. Figolivka, Novomlynsk, Zapadne, Kindrashivka, and Kupiansk in Kharkiv Oblast experienced Russian artillery and mortar shelling.
  • In the Lyman direction, Russian troops carried out aviation strikes in the areas of Bilohorivka in Luhansk Oblast and Ivanivka, Serebrianka, and Spirne in Donetsk Oblast. Settlements such as Nevske, Bilohorivka in Luhansk Oblast, and Torske, Spirne, and Berestove in Donetsk Oblast were hit by artillery shelling.
  • In the Bakhmut direction, Russian soldiers conducted aviation strikes in the areas of Klishchiyivka, Bila Hora, and Kostiantynivka. Over 15 populated areas, including Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Bilokuzminivka, Hryhorivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiyivka and Kostiantynivka in Donetsk Oblast, were affected by Russian artillery shelling.
  • In the Avdiivka direction, Russian troops carried out an aviation strike in the Avdiivka area. More than 10 populated areas, including Keramik, Avdiivka, Vodyane, and Karlivka in Donetsk Oblast, were subjected to artillery shelling.
  • In the Marinka direction, the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to restrain the advance of Russian troops in the area of the cities of Marinka and Pisky in Donetsk Oblast. The Russian army carried out shelling on more than 10 populated areas, including Krasnohorivka, Marinka, Georgiivka, Hostre, and Katerinivka.
  • In the Shakhtarsk direction, Russian troops conducted an aviation strike in the area of Staromykhailivka and shelled the populated areas of Blahodatne, Vuhledar, and Prechystivka in Donetsk Oblast.
  • In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the Russian army concentrates its main efforts to prevent further advancement of Ukrainian troops. It conducted an aviation strike in the area of Zmiivka in Kherson Oblast. Over 25 populated areas, including Levadne, Huliaipole, Zaliznyche, Bilohirya, and Kamianske in Zaporizhzhia Oblast; Nikopol in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast; and Beryslav, Vesele, Antonivka, Berehove, and Veletenske in Kherson Oblast, experienced artillery shelling. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue their offensive operations in the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions and are consolidating their positions on the achieved frontlines.

Against the backdrop of successful military actions by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the number of casualties in the Russian troops’ units has significantly increased, leading to difficulties in removing the deceased from local morgues. In particular, in the city of Svatove, Luhansk Oblast, the city morgue is overwhelmed with bodies of deceased Russians that Russian troops have not been able to evacuate for almost a week, resulting in an unbearable stench in the city.

Meanwhile, in the city of Starobilsk, Russian soldiers forcibly relocated a portion of the civilian medical personnel from local medical facilities to so-called military hospitals to provide medical assistance to the wounded Russian military. As a result, elderly local residents complain about the lack of opportunities to receive any medical treatment.

The Ukrainian troops’ strikes on Russian equipment

During the day, the Armed Forces’ aviation conducted 7 strikes on areas of Russian personnel, equipment, and military vehicles. Ukrainian troops also destroyed 4 tactical-level reconnaissance UAVs.

The missile and artillery units during the day hit Russian anti-aircraft missile complex, 8 artillery systems in firing positions, 2 radio-electronic warfare stations, as well as 2 areas where the Russian personnel were concentrated.
