The 552nd day of the Russia-Ukraine War: official operational information by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on 29.08.2023.

Russia’s attacks on the civilian infrastructure in Ukraine

During the day, the Russian army carried out 5 missile and 47 aviation strikes, as well as 48 barrages from rocket artillery systems on the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, due to the Russian terrorist attacks, there are casualties and injuries among the civilian population. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure have been damaged. The likelihood of missile and aviation strikes across the entire territory of Ukraine remains high. Over 30 clashes occurred within the day.

  • The operational situation in the Volyn and Polissya directions remains relatively unchanged.
  • In the Siversk and Slobozhansk directions, the Russian army conducted aerial strikes in the areas of Udiv and Zybyno, Kharkiv region. It also carried out mortar and artillery shelling on more than 20 populated areas, including Seredyna-Buda, Popivka, Kondrativka, Volodymyrivka in Sumy region, as well as Ohirtseve, Karaiichne, Okhrymivka, Mala Vovcha, Nesterne in Kharkiv region.
  • In the Kupyansk direction, the Russian army conducted aviation strikes in the areas of Pershotravneve, Kyslivka, and Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region. Russian artillery and mortar shelling targeted the settlements of Fiholivka, Dvorichna, Synkivka, Kurylivka, Kyslivka, and Kotliarivka in the Kharkiv region.
  • In the Lyman direction, Russian troops launched unsuccessful offensive actions in the areas of Novoyehorivka and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region. They carried out aviation strikes in the areas of Nadiia, Tverdokhlibove, Novoyehorivka, and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region; Spirne in the Donetsk region. Russian artillery shelling affected more than 10 populated areas, including Novoyehorivka in the Luhansk region, and Yampil, Siversk, Verkhniokamyanske, Torsk, and Spirne in the Donetsk region.
  • In the Bakhmut direction, the Russian army conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the areas of Bohdanivka and Ozaryanivka in the Donetsk region. It carried out aviation strikes in the areas of Klishchiivka, Druzhba, and Pivdenne in the Donetsk region. Over 25 populated areas, including Hryhorivka, Bohdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, and Druzhba in the Donetsk region, were affected by Russian artillery shelling.
  • In the Avdiivka direction, Russian troops conducted an aviation strike in the area of Avdiivka, and targeted the settlements of Keramik, Novokalynove, Stepove, Avdiivka, Siverske, and Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region with artillery and mortar fire.
  • In the Marinka direction, the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to contain the Russian troops’ advance in the Marinka area of the Donetsk region. The Russian army carried out aviation strikes in the areas of Krasnohorivka and Marinka in the Donetsk region. Settlements such as Krasnohorivka, Marinka, Georgiivka, Kurakhove, Pobeda, and Yelyzavetivka in the Donetsk region were subjected to Russian artillery shelling.
  • In the Shakhtarsk direction, the Russian army conducted aviation strikes in the area of Staromykhailivka in the Donetsk region. Settlements such as Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, Velyka Novosilka, Blahodatne, and Urozhayne in the Donetsk region were affected by Russian artillery shelling.
  • In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Russian soldiers carried out aviation strikes in the areas of Zaliznychne and Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region. Over 20 populated areas, including Shcherbaky, Stepove, Pyatykhatky, Kamianske, Plavne, and Lukyanivske in the Zaporizhzhia region, were affected by Russian artillery shelling.
  • In the Kherson front, more than 10 populated areas, including Zolota Balka, Mykilske, Sadove, Kherson, Sofiivka, and Shyroka Balka in the Kherson region, were affected by Russian artillery shelling.
Russian troops continue the forced passportization of the population in the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region. In the settlement of Mykhailivka in the Skadovsk district of the Kherson region, Russian occupying forces are suppressing local residents who refuse to obtain Russian passports. Due to their refusal to obtain hostile passports, Russian soldiers conduct raids on residences, carry out degrading inspections, and threaten with imprisonment and deportation.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue their offensive operation in the Melitopol direction, consolidating their achieved positions and conducting counter-battery measures.

The aviation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine conducted 7 strikes on personnel concentration areas and 4 strikes on Russian anti-aircraft missile systems during the day.

Rocket troops and artillery units during the day hit a personnel concentration area, weapons, military equipment, and the heavy flamethrower system BM-30 Smerch of the Russian army.
