Ukrainian army is increasingly successful at shooting down Iranian drones, – UK Intelligence

“Russia continues to use Iranian uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) against targets throughout Ukraine. Ukrainian efforts to defeat the Shahed-136 UAVs are increasingly successful,” noted the British Ministry of Defence.

UK Intelligence, following the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, claimed that Ukrainian forces were able to shoot down 85 % of Iranian drones which Russia used against Ukraine.

According to UK Intelligence, these drones are nosy, slow and fly at low altitudes, that’s why the conventional air defence of Ukraine can shoot down them without much effort.

“Russia is likely expending a high number of Iranian Shahed-136 UAVs in order to penetrate increasingly effective Ukrainian air defences. It is likely using them as a substitute for Russian-manufactured long-range precision weapons which are becoming increasingly scarce,” concluded the British Ministry of Defence.
