“The Executive Director of the International Energy Agency, Fatih Birol, and the Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Herman Galushchenko, signed a two-year joint work program aimed at restoring the Ukrainian energy system after the destruction caused by Russian military aggression, and further building a safe, sustainable energy future,” explained the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.

The program focuses on Ukraine’s key short- and long-term energy priorities with an emphasis on energy security, the clean energy transition and the energy sector recovery plan. In particular, the IEA will provide support to the Ministry of Energy in the development of the Energy Strategy until 2050. The agency will also assist the government of Ukraine in evaluating existing approaches to investing in the energy system and developing recommendations for their improvement.

“The joint program with the International Energy Agency will contribute to the involvement of high-quality expertise, the best global practices and the widespread introduction of the latest technologies for the reconstruction of Ukraine’s modern energy system,” the Minister of Energy of Ukraine emphasized.
