The meeting was attended by the permanent representatives of countries to the UN and representatives of UNESCO and the International Council of Monuments and Outstanding Places (ICOMOS), who recently visited Ukraine.

In his speech, Culture Minister Oleksandr Tkachenko emphasized that the Russians purposefully committed 423 crimes against the cultural heritage of Ukraine: “International organizations must increase pressure on Russia to stop this terrorism against the Ukrainian nation. Only together we can stop the aggressor.”

Kateryna Chuyeva, Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, addressed the international community with a speech, noting: “Russians are purposely destroying cultural heritage objects with shelling throughout Ukraine – from the Luhansk region to Lviv region. The entire country’s cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible, is now under attack and must be protected for all humanity.”

The participants of the UN Security Council meeting condemned the Russian aggression, recognized the actions of the Russian Federation as directed against the Ukrainian identity and emphasized the need to strengthen joint efforts to protect the cultural heritage of Ukraine from Russian aggression.
