Russian energy workers help destroy Ukrainian infrastructure

Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, the chairman of the Management Board of “Ukrenergo” (an electricity transmission system operator in Ukraine) noted on January 8, 2023, that terrorist attacks on the energy system of Ukraine were coordinated by Russian energy workers because they know it well from the inside.

“Attacks were planned and carried out not only by Russian military, but also Russian energy companies,” said the chairman of the Management Board of “Ukrenergo”.

According to Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, Russian engineers knew Ukraine’s power grid “like the back of their hand” because, before the start of the full-scale invasion of Russia last February, it was integrated with the power systems of Russia and Belarus.

The company emphasizes that now Ukrainian energy experts better understand the Russian strategy and are taking measures aimed at minimizing the consequences of missile attacks.

The energy system of Ukraine has already suffered 11 missile and 14 drone attacks by the Russian army. Damage to generation facilities and transmission networks is complex and large-scale. Their restoration still requires significant resources and time.
