Russia has already committed 2,085 war crimes in the Kharkiv region in Ukraine’s east

The National Police of Ukraine reported that deminers of the National Police of Ukraine continued to survey and demine populated areas of the liberated territories of the Kharkiv region (east of Ukraine). They have cleared approximately 1,681.4 hectares of territory from Russian mines as of October 28, 2022.

Investigators of the National Police of Ukraine registered 2,085 war crimes (including 31 in the past 24 hours) committed by Russian troops during the occupation of the Kharkiv region. The vast majority of crimes (1,821) were registered under Article 438 (violation of the laws and customs of war) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Another 225 criminal proceedings were initiated under Article 111-1 (collaborative activity) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

“Specialists of the explosives service of the National Police of Ukraine have examined the territory with a total area of about 1,681.4 hectares since the beginning of the de-occupation measures. 24,645 Russian explosive items were recovered, and 2,639 were destroyed,” added the department of the National Police of the Kharkiv region.
