Police registered 858 Russian war crimes in liberated territories of Ukraine’s eastern region

Investigators of the National Police of Ukraine stated on October 3, 2022, that they registered 858 (in particular, 64 over the past 24 hours) war crimes committed by Russian troops during the occupation of the Kharkiv region of Ukraine (east of the country).

“The vast majority (775) of these criminal proceedings were registered under Article 438 (violation of the laws and customs of war) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Another 68 criminal proceedings were initiated under Article 111-1 (collaborative activity) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.”

Last day, Ukrainian law enforcement officers together with the military checked 1,030 cars at checkpoints. 40 people were brought to the territorial units of the police for examination on suspicion of being involved in subversive and intelligence groups and carrying out propaganda activities.

Also, the employees of the explosives service of the National Police continue surveying and demining populated areas in the territories liberated by the Armed Forces of the Kharkiv Region. They have cleared about 1128.8 hectares of territory, in particular, about 35 hectares – in the past day, since the beginning of de-occupation measures.
