More than 470,000 people are without electricity in the Lviv region due to Russian missile attacks

Maksym Kozytskyy, the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration noted that the air defense forces of Ukraine destroyed 70% of the missiles flying over the Lviv region (west of Ukraine) during the Russian mass shelling of Ukraine on December 29, 2022. However, rockets damaged the energy infrastructure facility of the region.

“As of 11:40 a.m., more than 470,000 subscribers are without electricity in the Lviv region. The most difficult situation is the restoration of electricity supply in Lviv and surrounding settlements,” explained the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.

Maksym Kozytskyy added that emergency power outages were applied in the region due to damage to the energy infrastructure. Energy companies have already started repair work and should restore the power supply in the regional center by the end of the day.

In addition, the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Halushchenko said that due to the Russian missile attack, a difficult situation with electricity had developed in the west of Ukraine, as well as Odesa and Kyiv regions of Ukraine.
