More than 21,000 Russian explosive objects were defused in Ukraine during the year

Oleksandr Pavliuk, the First Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine informed on March 17, 2023, that during the year of the full-scale war, sappers of the State Special Transport Service discovered and defused more than 21,000 explosive objects.

“In total, over 21,000 explosive items were discovered and defused by sappers of the State Special Transport Service during the year of the full-scale invasion,” reported the First Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine.

About 1,800 hectares of land and more than 15 hectares of water area of rivers and lakes were checked for the presence of explosive devices. Sappers examined and secured about 1,800 km of railways and 165 km of highways. More than 160 kilometers of power lines and about 12 km of gas pipes were also inspected.

“Now sapper groups of the State Special Transport Service are working in the Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Kherson and other regions of Ukraine near the area of active hostilities. In addition, sappers go on calls to perform tasks of demining infrastructure objects,” added the First Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine.
