Vadym Prystaiko said that during the eight years since the start of the Russian invasion of Crimea and Donbas, the British military trained about 25 thousand officers and soldiers while in Ukraine.

“Now this work has been transferred to Great Britain. By the New Year, we will finish [training – ed.] for almost 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers, and starting from January 1, another 19,200 soldiers and officers will be trained on the territory of Great Britain,” explained Ukraine’s Ambassador to Great Britain.

According to the diplomat, not only British specialists participate in the training of Ukrainians but also representatives of ten other countries, which London involved.

“I recently visited units where there were officers from countries as far away as Australia and New Zealand. That is, everyone helps, and Great Britain often acts as the coordinator of this great help,” clarified Ukraine’s Ambassador to Great Britain.

The Ambassador explained that during the training program, which lasts five weeks, the instructors teach civilians to be soldiers. In particular, they explain to Ukrainians how to survive on the battlefield and fight effectively.

In addition, Britain helps Ukraine to get many other specialists, including military doctors and engineers.

In 2023, according to Vadym Prystaiko, the British will mainly train infantry soldiers – leaders will be chosen from among them, who will be able to become sergeants and grow into the next young commanders.
