In Latvia, almost 5,000 refugees from Ukraine have received a residence permit with the ability to work

Latvia since the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine has issued 4,787 residence permits to Ukrainian refugees with the right to work.

“4,318 Ukrainians needed resettlement through the Civil Defense Commission. 988 people needed housing in Riga. Now municipalities can accommodate and feed 6,238 people. Some Ukrainians stay with relatives, friends, or acquaintances. Most Ukrainian refugees are women and children”.

It is noted that 1,095 applications for guaranteed minimum income assistance and 1,110 applications for crisis assistance have been submitted to the Riga self-government. 1258 applications for education were also submitted,  379 of which to preschools and 879 to schools.

Currently, the Latvian Ministry of Internal Affairs is working to create a single database of Ukrainian refugees.
