The Minister of Defense of Poland Mariusz Błaszczak informed on February 15, 2023, that four countries (Poland, Norway, Canada and Spain) formed a battalion of Leopard 2A4 tanks for Ukraine.
“We talked about the coalition of donors of Leopard 2 tanks. I want to say that we equipped a battalion of Leopard 2A4 tanks, this was the task that I set before myself, and it worked. 8 tanks from Norway, 4 tanks from Canada, and 4-6 tanks from Spain joined the 14 Leopard tanks which will be transferred from Poland. Finland will also participate in this project as a tank donor to support the armored battalion,” said the head of the Polish Ministry of Defense, Mariusz Blaszczak, after the NATO defense ministers’ meeting in Brussels.
The Minister of Defense of Poland also emphasized that the training of Ukrainian crews on Leopard 2 tanks is currently underway in Poland, also with the participation of instructors from Canada and Norway.
