8 countries will transfer Leopard tanks to Ukraine, – US Minister of Defense

US Minister of Defense Lloyd Austin during the meeting in the Rammstein format (Ukraine Defense Contact Group) on February 14, 2023, announced that Germany, Poland, Canada, Portugal, Spain, Norway, Denmark, and the Netherlands would provide Ukraine with German-made Leopard tanks. In addition, the USA and the Czech Republic will provide additional tanks to the T-72 already received from Poland.

Lloyd Austin noted that the USA, Germany and the Netherlands will provide Ukraine with American Patriot air defense systems. In turn, France and Italy will transfer SAMP/T air defense systems.

“And a consortium of countries — including Germany, Poland, Canada, Portugal, Spain, Norway, Denmark, and the Netherlands — are working together to provide Leopard battle tanks to Ukraine. For more armored power, the United States, the Czech Republic, and the Netherlands are jointly providing more than 90 T-72 tanks,” informed the US Minister of Defense.

In addition, the USA and its partners collaborate on training the Ukrainian Armed Forces via bilateral or multilateral initiatives, including the European Union’s Military Assistance Mission.
