European Union approved €500 million military aid for Ukraine

The permanent representative of Lithuania to the EU Arnoldas Pranckevičius noted that the European Union ratified the allocation of 500 million euros to Ukraine on Monday, January 23, 2023.

According to Arnoldas Pranckevičius, this is already the seventh EU tranche for Ukraine.

“Important decisions taken at today’s European Foreign Affairs Council: 7th tranche of European Peace Facility military aid of €500 million for Ukraine approved, bringing it up to total €3.6billion; CSDP mission in Armenia agreed; 4th sanctions package against Iran adopted,” tweeted the permanent representative of Lithuania to the EU.

In addition, a €500 million aid package was approved, along with an additional €45 million for non-lethal equipment for an EU military training mission for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“EU support to Ukraine increases again. Political agreement of EU Foreign Ministers on further €500 million from the European Peace Facility and €45 million for training of Ukrainian soldiers under the EUMAM Ukraine mission has been reached,” added the Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the EU.
