Canada will provide Ukraine with thousands of artillery shells and missiles for air defense

The Ministry of Defense of Canada said on March 15, 2023, that in the coming weeks, Canada would send approximately 8,000 rounds of ammunition, as well as 12 anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine.

“During this meeting [Ukraine Defense Contact Group – ed.], the Minister announced that Canada will donate approximately 8,000 rounds of 155 mm caliber ammunition as well as 12 anti-aircraft missiles from the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) inventory to support the air defense systems already deployed in Ukraine,” informed the Ministry of Defense of Canada.

It is noted that Canada will also send more than 1,800 105-mm training shells for Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine.

“Defense Minister Anand also confirmed that the CAF began shipping the additional Leopard 2 main battle tanks promised by Canada in late February. Canada has committed to supplying Ukraine with eight Leopard 2 main battle tanks in total, four of which have already been delivered to Poland, where a team of CAF members are on hand to train Ukrainian soldiers in their use,” added the Ministry of Defense of Canada.
