“Next steps to support Ukraine: Minister Lambrecht announces in Brussels that up to 5,000 Ukrainian soldiers will be trained in Germany until June 2023. In addition, we are creating a repair center [for the  equipment which has been supplied to Kyiv – ed.] in Slovakia, which will start working immediately,” wrote the Ministry of Defense of Germany on Twitter.

New recruits will participate in basic training, and more experienced soldiers will undergo special training. In particular, the Ukrainian military will be trained to use Iris-T air defense systems in Germany, the first batch of which Berlin has already handed over to Kyiv.

It should be noted that the European Union has officially launched a training mission for the Ukrainian military. According to the EU High Representative, up to 15,000 Ukrainian soldiers will be trained in the EU countries.
