10th package of sanctions will include Russian propagandists, – EU Commission President

The President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen noted at a joint press conference with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the head of the European Council Charles Michel on February 9, 2023, that the tenth package of EU sanctions will target not only Russian politicians and the military but also propagandists who share false information.

“Russia must pay for the destruction caused and the blood split. In the coming days, we will propose the tenth package of sanctions. First, we will impose sanctions on a number of military and political leaders. But we will also target Putin’s propagandists because their lies are poisoning people in Russia and abroad. We will catch them,” emphasized Ursula von der Leyen.

The President of the European Commission added that the leadership of the European structures heard the messages very well during the recent visit to Kyiv, when President Zelenskyy insisted on such a step (imposing sanctions on Russian propagandists).

Second, the package will include an additional ban on exports worth more than 10 billion euros.

“Our 10th package of sanctions will further weaken Russia’s war machine. And we have the will to hold Russia accountable for its crimes, including the crime of aggression,” concluded Ursula von der Leyen.
