On May 28 was held a discussion about the Atlantic Council’s report “Hiding in Plain Sight: Putin’s War in Ukraine” and the release of the English version of “Putin.War”. In the event took a part Damon Wilson (Executive Vice President, Programs and Strategy, at the Atlantic Council); Ilya Yashin (a leader of the pro-democracy Republican Party of Russia-People’s Freedom Party (RPR-Parnas); Sergey Aleksashenko (a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution), and John Herbst (Director of the Atlantic Council’s Dinu Patriciu Eurasia Center), the moderator was Susan Glasser, Editor of Politico.
The Atlantic Council report examines direct Russian invasion in Ukraine, confirms the movement of Russian soldiers and equipment across the border into Ukraine, Russian military presence in Eastern Ukraine (Russian training camps, commanders, military vehicles of the Russian Federation, Russian manufactured arms and munitions). Actually the report also confirms that Russian troops in Ukraine received cover from Russian territory and many attacks originated in Russia.
Damon Wilson, one of the report’s five co-authors told during the discussion that Putin provided hybrid war in Ukraine and the truth had to be told:
“There would be no conflict in Ukraine today but for Putin’s strategy to provoke one. We don’t have a Ukraine problem, we have a Putin problem. Best antidote to his hybrid war is to reveal the truth”
