This is Ukraine today – September 12

Maidan Community Sector, Lviv: Dear friends!

War, not the expected peace arrived at the doorstep of Great Britain and France when they gave up Czechoslovakia to Hitler in 1938. War is happening right here at home and not in faraway Europe – the United States were harshly reminded about this at Pearl Harbor in 1942. War descended on Ukraine and thus is now much closer to Paris and Berlin, because Europe and the US haven’t supported Georgia in 2008. War showed up in the homes of Dutch, British, French, German, Australian families because Europe and the US weren’t courageous enough to lend a helping hand to Ukraine in 2014. It is impossible to run away from war and overwhelming aggression, it is impossible to buy yourself off. The war will catch up with you if you don’t stand up to it with utmost determination.

September 12 – The EU will prolong unilateral trade preferences for Ukraine until December 31st next year. Enforcement of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU will be delayed for year – until December 31st, 2015. This has been said in a joint statement by the EU Commissioner for Trade Karel De Gucht, Minister of Economic Development of Russia Alexey Ulyukayev and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin. “In case of ratification of the Association Agreement with the EU by Ukraine, the Commission is ready to offer more flexibility in order to be able to fully support the stabilization of Ukraine”, is written in a statement. Ukrainian Ministry for Foreign Affairs has said that this agreement should dissipate Russia’s hypothetical concerns regarding EU-Ukraine Agreement.

September 12 – Terrorists and Russian troops are being pulled towards Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts – they are regrouping, being supplied by arms, heavy armor, artillery and ammunition.

September 12 – The US has limited the access of major Russian banks, including Sberbank to American capital market.

September 12 – Ukraine has sent a letter to the EU Commission asking to look into the cause of decreased Russian gas supply to the EU, said the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Yuriy Prodan.

September 12 – Media has reported about an attack on Donetsk airport – as a result, a large-scale fire is flaring up.
