This is Ukraine today – June 27

Maidan Community Sector, Lviv: Dear friends!

By annexing Crimea, Russia has carried out an act of aggression against Ukraine. Currently Russia is transferring terrorist and sabotage groups to Eastern Ukraine. Russia aims to prevent legitimate presidential elections from happening. Everyday life in Eastern Ukraine has turned into a continuous nightmare in the middle of Europe. Our country is being destroyed right before our eyes. We therefore take the courage to inform you about current events in Ukraine. This is just another point of view. We will do our best to remain objective.

June 27 – Terrorists have attacked the checkpoints near Sloviansk. One person has died. During the night, the terrorists attacked a checkpoint of defense forces near Kramatorsk and the ATO positions at Karachun Mountain close to Sloviansk. In the early hours of the morning they attacked a military unit in Artemivsk. 8 Russian tanks (“purchased earlier at the Russian supermarket” – according to Putin) participated in the attack near Kramators. 1 tank was operating during the attack in Artemivsk. The attacks were fought off by Ukrainian defense forces.

June 27 – Ukraine has signed an Association Agreement with the EU. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed atrade and economic pact (final part of the Agreement) on behalf of Ukraine; the leaders of all EU member states signed this Agreement as well. Moldova and Georgia also signed respective Agreements. Moldovan Prime Minister Iurie Leancă hopes that his country will apply for EU membership during the second half of 2015. They will probably declare the day of mourning on this occasion in Moscow.

June 27 – Russian terrorists have only a few hours left to accept the peace plan of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. Ceasefire, announced by the President, is ending. Before 10 pm the President will decide whether to continue the unilateral truce. The terrorists haven’t stopped attacking Ukrainian defense forces.

June 27 – Russian troops are entrenching themselves at the border with Kherson region. They are also conducting air reconnaissance activities of the border areas using unmanned aircraft.

June 27 – The EU has given Russia until June 30th to decrease tensions at Ukraine-Russia border. If this doesn’t happen – further sanctions will be imposed.
