War, not the expected peace arrived at the doorstep of Great Britain and France when they gave up Czechoslovakia to Hitler in 1938. War is happening right here at home and not in faraway Europe – the United States were harshly reminded about this at Pearl Harbor in 1942. War descended on Ukraine and thus is now much closer to Paris and Berlin, because Europe and the US haven’t supported Georgia in 2008. War showed up in the homes of Dutch, British, French, German, Australian families because Europe and the US weren’t courageous enough to lend a helping hand to Ukraine in 2014. It is impossible to run away from war and overwhelming aggression, it is impossible to buy yourself off. The war will catch up with you if you don’t stand up to it with utmost determination.
August 26 – United States Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt believes that Russia is preparing a counterattack. That is why it is transferring large numbers of heavy equipment to Ukraine.
August 26 – Ukrainian army found itself surrounded in the city of Ilovaisk. However, it is powerful enough to defend the city.
August 26 – Negotiations were held between the representatives of three Eurasian states, the EU and Ukraine in Minsk. Both President Poroshenko and President Putin were present, they shook hands. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko believes that in Minsk not only the issue of settling the conflict in Donbas is being decided upon, but also the fate of the whole of Europe. President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev does not consider the signing the Association Agreement EU-Ukraine to be the problem.
August 26 – Not far from the checkpoint Gukovo, Russia has stationed a large convoy of military vehicles that are likely to try to break into the Ukraine. The convoy consists of about 100 units of military equipment, including tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, trucks, “Grad” missile launchers.
August 26 – Independent diplomatic sources of Ukraine and Russia confirm that the next round of talks between the presidents of Ukraine and Russia could take place in Ankara this week, under the aegis of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
August 26 – Has an open invasion of the Russian begun? Regular Russian troops entered the territory of Ukraine from Taganrog. 30 tanks, armored equipment and manpower have entered Ukraine. They are located 8 kilometers deep into Ukrainian territory. They control 6 border villages. The invaders put up roadblocks – leaving 3 tanks, 2 armored vehicles and 1 military squad at each of them – and keep moving on. The shots are heard in the suburbs of Novoazovsk. Russian military personnel are no more hiding their badges on the occupied territories. They promised local residents that “soon everything will be fine; they will have their own republic”. Strategic height Savur-Mohyla, however, remains under Ukrainian army control.
