Operational report July 21, 2022 by the General Staff of AFU on the Russian invasion of Ukraine

The heroic resistance of the Ukrainians against a Russian military invasion continues on the 148th day.

No signs of offensive groups being formed were detected in the Volyn or Polissia directions.

Russian troops continue to operate in the Siverskyi direction by using unmanned aerial vehicls for aerial reconnaissance in the border areas between Chernihiv oblasts and Sumy. Russian devisions shelled urban areas of Mospanove, Petrivka, Ruski Tyshky, Bazaliyivka, Pechenihy, Tsyrkuny, Pytomnyk, Dementiyivka, Korobochkine and Prudianka in Ukraine.

Shelling by Russia was reported in the Slovyansk direction near Dibrivne, Krasnopillia, Chepil, Adamivka,Hrushuvaha. In the Kramatorsk direction, the Russian soldiers attacked the Kramatorsk and Siversk districts with artillery. The fighting continues as the enemy conducts assault operations near Ivano-Daryivka.

Bakhmut is being attacked by the Russian army that is carrying out combat operations to create conditions for Bakhmut’s offensive and take over the Vuhlehirska power station. It shelled civilian and military infrastructures in the Rozdolivka and Pokrovske areas, and conducted airstrikes against the villages of Bilohorivka and Vershyna in Ukraine.

In an attempt to take over territory belonging to the Vuhlehirska power station, the Russian units launched attacks. The attempt was unsuccessful. The Ukrainian soldiers drove the occupiers from their positions. The fighting continues in the Novoluhansk area. The enemy used reconnaissance and subversive groups to expose the Defense Forces’ firing positions in specific directions.

Russia conducted systematic shelling in the Avdiyivka and Novopavlivka directions of civilian and military infrastructures in the Vesele and Umanske areas. Solodke and Krasnohorivka were the sites of Russian airstrikes. The enemy is upgrading the engineering equipment at defensive positions in some areas.

Russian soldiers are concentrating their efforts in the South Buh direction on maintaining the occupied posts. The enemy conducted reconnaissance of UAVs. They targeted civilian infrastructure in the area of Apostolove, Lepetykha, Chervona Dolyna, Murakhivka, Blahodatne, Prybuzke, Lymany, and Mykolayivka in Ukraine.

It is reported that Russian servicemen are reluctant to renew long-term contracts which have expired and don’t want to serve.
