Operational report August 07, 2022 by the General Staff of AFU on the Russian invasion of Ukraine

The brave Ukrainian people’s resistance to a Russian military invasion is still going strong after 165 days.

The Russian army is concentrating its efforts on seizing full control of the Ukrainian Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts’ territories, holding onto the regions of Kherson that were captured and portions of the Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Mykolayiv oblasts that had been taken, creating favourable conditions for resuming the offensive in some directions, and obstructing Ukraine’s maritime communications in the Black Sea.

The possibility of Russian invaders using missiles to attack targets throughout the entirety of Ukrainian land still exists.

The directions in Volyn, Polissia, and Siverskyi have not seen any significant alterations. The Russian Federation used barrel and jet artillery to shell the terrain around the towns of Hay and Hremiach in the Chernihiv region as well as Novi Vyrky and Mykolayivka in the Sumy oblast.

Along with artillery fire along the line of contact in the direction of Kharkiv, Russian occupiers also conducted airstrikes close to Pryshyb, Verkhniy Saltiv, and Rtyshchivka. Additionally, they used drones for illegal surveillance.

Russian shelling was observed close to Dovhenke, Velyka Komyshuvakha, Sulyhivka, Ridne, Bohorodychne, and Krasnopillia in the direction of Sloviansk. Near Virnopillia, the Russian occupiers attempted to launch an assault. This brief effort was put down by Ukrainian forces, who also forced the adversary back.

Russia’s scouting combat near Bohorodychne and Dolyna resulted in defeat and a retreat for the Russian occupants.

Russian soldiers opened fire on the settlements of Kramatorsk, Siversk, Verkhnyokamianske, Hryhorivka, Raihorodok, and Zvanivka in the direction of Kramatorsk using tanks, barrel and rocket artillery, and other weapons. Russian airstrike near Spirny was conducted.

Russian invaders attempted to advance their tactical position close to Verkhnokamianske with offensive measures, but were unsuccessful and withdrew.

In the direction of Bahmut, the communities of Bahmut, Soledar, Kostiantynivka, Yakovlivka, Pokrovske, Vershyna, Kodema, and Bahmutske all experienced Russian bombardment of both military and civilian Ukrainian infrastructure. Aircraft from the Russian Federation was used at Bakhmut, Soledar, and Zaytsevo.

The Russian army attempted to ascertain the Ukrainian soldiers’ defence system close to Bilohorivkausing illegal reconnaissance.

In the vicinity of the Ukrainian communities of Bakhmut, Zaytseve, Yakovlivka, and Vershyna, Russian occupants engaged in offensive and assailant operations.

The Russian invaders launched artillery and tanks in the Avdiyivka direction, hitting Pisky, Shevchenko, Netailove, Nevelske, Krasnohorivka, and New York (Donetsk region, Ukraine). Near Avdiyivka, Mariyinka, Kamyanka, and Volodymyrivka, Russian airstrikes were reported.

The Russian occupants made an attempt to get past Ukrainian soldiers’ fortifications and move toward the communities of Krasnohorivka, Avdiyivka, Pisky, and Mariyinka.

Russian shelling continues in the Novopavlivsk and Zaporizhia directions along the contact line. In the vicinity of the communities of Mykilske, Vesele, Novodanylivka, Mali Shcherbaky, Novosilka, and Velyka Novosilka, the Russian army conducted airstrikes.

The Russian army is concentrating its efforts to halt Ukrainian forces’ progress in the direction of South Buh using the intensive use of illegal drone reconnaissance. Russia conducted tank, rocket, and barrel bombardment along the whole line of engagement. In the towns of Andriyivka, Biloghirka, Novomykolayivka, Oleksandrivka, Myrne, Velyke Artakove, and Tavriyske, it conducted airstrikes. Having failed in his offensive engagements at Blahodatny, Russian forces withdrew from there.
