Operational report August 02, 2022 by the General Staff of AFU on the Russian invasion of Ukraine

Operational information on the 160th day (02.08.2022) of the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.

There have been no major changes in the position and structure of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus in the Brest and Gomel areas in the direction of Volyn and Polissia in Ukraine. It is reported that the Republic of Belarus supplies Russia with ammunition and there is still a risk of a missile attack on Ukraine from its territory.

The Russian army shelled Ukrainian positions in the Siverskyi direction from the territory of Russia and conducted aerial reconnaissance in the border areas of the Chernihiv and Sumy regions in Ukraine.

In the direction of Slobozhanskyi, Russian soldiers continued hostilities with the aim of controlling the occupied front and preventing the Ukrainian Defence forces from creating favorable conditions for the resumption of the offensive. Russian groups are taking steps to replenish lost personnel as well as weapons and military equipment. In the direction of Kharkiv, they airstriked in the urban area of Verhniy Saltiv, and shelled Kharkiv, Protopopivka, Husarivka, Chepil, Pytomnyk, Cherkaski Tyshki, Petrivka, Rtyshchivka, Staryi Saltiv, Skrypali, Sosnivka, Tsirkuny, Svitlichne Ukrainian settlements.

Russian invaders failed and retreated to improve their tactical position in the direction of Tarnov-Bayrak.

In the direction of Sloviansk, Russia airstriked on the territory of Dibrivne village, and used barrel and jet artillery fire at Ukrainian settlements in the Kurulka, Vasylivka Persha, Hrestyshche, Hrushuvakha, Dibrivne, Adamivka, Dolyna, Mazanivka, Velyka Komyshuvaha, and Krasnopillia.

Russian units provided the illegal reconnaissance near Ukrainian urban areas of Dovhenke and Dolyna.

In the direction of Donetsk, Russia is concentrating on Bakhmut and Avdiyivka. Using fire damage systematically, it tries to contain Ukrainian forces and prevent them from moving in the direction of the threat.

In the direction of Kramatorsk, shells were recorded near Siversk, Serebrianka, Verkhnokamyansk, Zvanyivka and Donetsk. The Russian army launched an air strike near Serebryanka. The illigal aerial reconnaissance of Russian drones was noticed near Kryva Luka.
Russian soldiers tried to advance in the direction of Novoluhanske – Ivano-Daryivka but failed.

In the direction of Bakhmut, Russian shelling was recorded near Yakovlivka, Kurdyumivka, Zalizne, Soledar, Bakhmut, Zaitsevo, Pokrovsky, Vesele. Russia increased the strength of aviation in the designated direction, carrying out air strikes near Yakovlivka, Pokrovske, Soledar, Bakhmut and Kodema.

All attempts by the enemy to advance in the direction of Roty – Vershyna, Volodymyrivka – Yakovlivka, Klynove – Zaitseve and Pokrovske – Bakhmut were successfully repelled by Ukrainian Armed Forces. The Russian occupiers retreated with casualties.

Some Russian units had partial success in the direction of Vidrodzhenia – Kodema.

In the direction of Avdiyivka, the Russian army shelled the Ukrainian settlements of Avdiyivka, Netaylove and New York (Donetsk region). Air strikes were carried out by the Russian Federation near Avdiyivka and Novobakhmutivka.

The occupiers attacked in the direction of Mineralne – Avdiyivka, they were unsuccessful, they retreated. The enemy had partial success in the Donetsk-Pisky direction.

Towards South Buh, the Russian army was concentrating on holding the occupation line and preventing the advance of the Ukrainian defenders.

The Ukrainian areas of Mykolaiv, Trudoliubivka, Osokorivka, Ivanivka, Olenivka, Zorya, Blagodatne, Pryshyb, Tokareve, Novovorontsovka, Bila Krynytsia, Andriyivka, Vesely Kut and Yavkine were shelled by Russian tanks, artillery and several missile systems. An air raid was carried out by Russia near Zoria, Ukraine.

The Russian army continued to suffer losses in manpower and equipment. As a result, it is reported that among the Russian occupiers there has been an increase in alcoholism – disobedience of officers and inter-ethnic conflict.
