The 558th day of the Russia-Ukraine War: official operational information by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on 04.09.2023.

Russia’s attacks on the civilian infrastructure in Ukraine

During the day, the Russian army carried out 5 missile and 68 aviation strikes, as well as 42 barrages from rocket artillery systems on the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, due to the Russian terrorist attacks, there are casualties and injuries among the civilian population. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure have been damaged.

The likelihood of missile and aviation strikes across the entire territory of Ukraine remains high.

Throughout the day, 22 clashes took place.

  • In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remains relatively unchanged.
  • In the Siversk and Slobozhansk directions, the Russian army conducted mortar and artillery shelling on more than 15 populated areas, including Karpovychi, Progres, Chernihiv Oblast, Nova Huta, Romashkove, Buhor, Malushyne, Sumy Oblast, as well as Udy, Vovchansk, Vovchanski Hutori, Hatyshche, Ohirtseve, and Ternova in Kharkiv Oblast.
  • In the Kupyansk direction, the Russian army carried out an aviation strike in the area of Budarkiv, Kharkiv Oblast. Over 10 populated areas, including Figolivka, Dvorichna, Kindrashivka, Synkivka, and Kyslivka of Kharkiv Oblast were subjected to artillery shelling.
  • In the Lyman direction, Russian troops conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the areas of Novoehorivka and Bilohorivka, Luhansk Oblast. Aviation strikes were carried out in the areas of Bilohorivka, Luhansk Oblast, Yamoplivka, and Spirne, Donetsk Oblast. More than 10 populated areas, including Nevske, Bilohorivka of Luhansk Oblast, and Spirne, Rozdolivka, Serebrianka, Verkhniokamianske of Donetsk Oblast, experienced Russian artillery shelling.
  • In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian military successfully repelled attacks by Russian troops in the area north of Klishchiivka, Donetsk Oblast. The Russian army conducted an aviation strike in the area of Ivanivka, Donetsk Oblast. Over 15 populated areas, including Minkivka, Vasiukivka, Bohdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Bila Hora, and Pivnichne of the Donetsk Oblast, were subjected to Russian artillery shelling.
  • In the Avdiivka direction, the Russian army carried out an aviation strike in the area of Avdiivka. It shelled populated areas including Oleksandropil, Novokalynove, Keramik, Avdiivka, Severne, and Pervomaiske of Donetsk Oblast with artillery and mortars.
  • In the Marinka direction, the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to contain the Russian troops’ advance in the area of Marinka, Donetsk Oblast. The Russian army conducted an aviation strike in the area of Krasnohorivka. Populated areas like Krasnohorivka, Marinka, Hostre, and Novomykhailivka of Donetsk Oblast experienced artillery shelling.
  • In the Shakhtarsk direction, Russian troops carried out an aviation strike in the area of Vuhledar. More than 10 populated areas, including Vuhledar, Vodianne, Shakhtarske, Novoukrainka, and Urozhaine of Donetsk Oblast, were subjected to Russian artillery shelling.
  • In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Russian army conducted aviation strikes in the areas of Mala Tokmachka, Orikhove, Robotyne, and Stepnohirsk of Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Over 15 populated areas, including Novodarivka, Olhivske, Zaliznychne, Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne, and Kamianske of Zaporizhzhia Oblast, experienced Russian artillery shelling.
  • In the Kherson direction, Russian soldiers conducted aviation strikes in the areas of Tiahynka and Molodizhne. Burhunka of Kherson Oblast experienced Russian artillery and mortar shelling.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue their offensive operation in the Melitopol direction, solidifying their positions along the achieved boundaries and carrying out counter-battery measures.

During the day, the aviation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces conducted 11 strikes on areas of personnel concentration, weapons, and military equipment, and 2 strikes on Russian anti-aircraft missile complexes.

Rocket troops and artillery units during the day targeted 11 artillery assets in firing positions and 4 Russian command posts.
