General Staff operational report June 15, 2023 on the Russian invasion of Ukraine

The 477th day of the Russia-Ukraine War: official operational information by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on 15.06.2023.

Russian army’s attacks on civilian infrastructure

During the day, the Russian army launched 5 missile strikes, using the Kh-101/Kh-555 and Kh-59 cruise missiles. Additionally, over 40 airstrikes and more than 20 shelling attacks from multiple rocket launch systems were recorded on the positions of Ukrainian forces and civilian areas. Unfortunately, there have been casualties and injuries among the civilian population, industrial facilities have been damaged in Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, and residential buildings and administrative infrastructure in the Kherson Oblast.

The probability of missile and airstrikes across the entire territory of Ukraine remains very high. The Russian army continues to concentrate its main efforts on the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Marinka directions, and heavy fighting is ongoing. There have been 26 combat clashes during the day.

Operational situation on Ukrainian directions

  • Volyn and Polissia directions: the operational situation remains unchanged. There are no significant signs of Russian offensive formations being detected. Belarus continues to support the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, as the preparation of separate Russian units continues on its training grounds.
  • Siversk and Slobozhansk directions: the Russian army carried out airstrikes on Yanzhulivka and Halahanivka in the Chernihiv Oblast. It conducted mortar and artillery shelling on the populated areas of Karpovychi, Yanzhulivka, Halahanivka in the Chernihiv Oblast; Seredyna-Buda, Rozhkovychi, Demianivka, Baranivka, Photovysh, Budivelne, Stukalivka, Iskryskivshchyna, Yastrubine, Basivka in the Sumy Oblast, as well as Veternarne, Alisivka, Starytsia, Ohirtseve, Hatysche, Pletenivka, Bochkove, Budarky in the Kharkiv Oblast.
  • Kupiansk direction: Russian soldiers carried out air strikes in the areas of Vesele and Berestove in the Kharkiv Oblast. Novomylnsk, Masiutivka, Zapadne, Lyman Pershyi, Kyslivka in the Kharkiv Oblast, and Novoselivske in the Luhansk Oblast were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
  • Lyman direction: the Russian army conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the areas of Stelmakhivka in the Luhansk Oblast and Vyimka, Vesele and Rozdolivka in the Donetsk Oblast during the day. It carried out an aviation strike in the area of Raigorodka in the Luhansk Oblast. Stelmakhivka, Nevske, Bilohorivka in the Luhansk Oblast, and Yamolivka, Torske, Dibrova, Verkhniokamianske, Spirne, Serebrianka in the Donetsk Oblast were subjected to artillery shelling.
  • Bakhmut direction: Russian troops conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the area of Orikhovo-Vasylivka in the Donetsk Oblast during the day. They carried out airstrikes near Bila Hora, Pivnichne, and Maiorske in the Donetsk Oblast. Vasiukivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Chasiv Yar, Kalynivka, Ivanivske, Ozarianivka, Bila Hora, Kostiantynivka, Kramatorsk, Katerinivka, and Pivdenne in the Donetsk Oblast were affected by Russian artillery shelling.
  • Avdiivka direction: the Russian army conducted airstrikes in the area of the city of Avdiivka. It carried out artillery shelling of the areas near the populated areas of Keramik, Orlivka, Avdiivka, Vesele, Semenivka, Vodiane, Severne, Tonevke, Pervomaiske, Yasnobrodivka, Karlivka, Zhelane Pershe, Novokalynove, and Nevelske in the Donetsk Oblast.
  • Marinka direction: Ukrainian troops repelled all Russian attacks in the areas of Marinka, Krasnohorivka, and Novomykhailivka. The Russian army conducted airstrikes near the populated areas of Novomykhailivka, Velyka Novosilka, Malynivka, Mala Tokmacha, and Blahodatne in the Donetsk Oblast. At the same time, it carried out artillery shelling on Krasnohorivka, Marinka, Maksymilianivka, Pobeda, and Katerinivka in the Donetsk Oblast.
  • Shakhtarsk direction: Russian soldiers conducted offensive actions towards Novomykhailivka and Vodyane in the Donetsk Oblast but did not succeed. They shelled the populated areas of Blahodatne, Vuhledar, Bohoyavlenske, Novoukrainka, Zolota Nyva, Shakhtarske, Velyka Novosilka, and Novyi Komar in the Donetsk Oblast.
  • Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions: the Russian army continues to conduct defensive operations. It carried out an aviation strike with guided aviation bombs in the area of Kozatske in the Kherson Oblast. It also conducted artillery shelling on the populated areas of Olhivske, Chervone, Zatyschia, Huliaypole, Zaliznychne, Bilohirya, Novoandriyivka, Preobrazhenka, Mali Shcherbaky, Kamianske in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast; Osokorivka, Mykhailivka, Respublikanets, Berislav, Vesele, Kozatske, Olhivka, Odradokamianka, Lvove, Tyahynka, Tokarivka, Inzhenerne, Antonivka, Zelenivka, Stepianivka, Chornobaivka, Kherson, Zimivnyk, Bilozirka, Kizomysove in the Kherson Oblast, and Ochakiv in the Mykolaiv Oblast.

 

Ukrainian aviation and artillery response

The aviation of the Ukrainian army conducted 13 strikes on Russian personnel concentration areas within the day. Additionally, Ukrainian troops destroyed 20 Iranian strike UAVs of the Shahed type, as well as an operational-tactical level UAV “Orlan-10”.

Units of missile forces and artillery of the Ukrainian army targeted 2 command posts, an S-300 surface-to-air missile system, Russian personnel concentration area, 3 ammunition depots, and 5 artillery units on firing positions throughout the day.
