General Staff operational report February 24, 2023 on the Russian invasion of Ukraine

The 366th day of the Russia-Ukraine War: official operational information by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on 24.02.2023.

The Russian Federation focuses its main efforts on the offensive operations on Kupyansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Shakhtarske directions. The number of Rssian personnel is increasing.

During the day of February 24, the Russian army launched 18x air strikes, 4x of them with Lancet loitering munitions. Russian military launched more than 30x MLRS attacks.

The threat of Russian missile attacks across Ukraine remains high.

  • Volyn, Polissya, Sivershchyna, and Slobozhanshchyna directions: no significant changes. No signs of the formation of Russian offensive groups were found. The Russian army fired mortars and artillery at the settlements of Senkivka, Yeline, Leonivka (Chernihiv oblast), Iskryskivshchyna, Volfyne, Zapsillya, Miropillya (Sumy oblast), as well shelled the vicinities of 18x settlements in Kharkiv oblast.  Among them are Lemishchyne, Oleksandrivka, Starytsya, Vovchansk, and Bolohivka.
  • Kupyansk and Lyman directions: the Russian army conducted several unsuccessful offensives. In particular, Russian troops attacked the vicinities of Serebryanske forestry and the settlements of Verkhnokamyanske and Rozdolivka (Donetsk oblast). Russian soldiers fired artillery at the vicinities of 14x settlements. These included Hryanykivka, Kupyansk, Berestove (Kharkiv oblast), Dibrova, and Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast).
  • Bakhmut direction: the Russian army continues to attack the positions of Ukrainian troops, launching several unsuccessful attacks near the settlements of Dubovo-Vasylivka, Berkhivka, and Zaliznyanske. The Russian army is active in aerial reconnaissance to spot for artillery fire. 15x settlements came under fire, including Spirne, Vesele, Dubovo-Vasylivka, Berkhivka, Bakhmut, and Ozaryanivka (Donetsk oblast).
  • Avdiivka and Shakhtarske directions: the Russian army was on the offensive in the vicinities of settlements of Pervomaiske, Nevelske, and Marinka, to no success. Artillery attacks were reported near 16x settlements. In particular, these are Avdiivka, Vodyane, Zolota Nyva, Marinka, Vuhledar, and Velyka Novosilka (Donetsk oblast).
  • Zaporizhzhia direction: Russian military shelled the vicinities of 17x settlements. Among them are Vremivka, Novopil (Donetsk oblast), Olhivske, Hulyaipole, Orikhiv, and Bilohirya (Zaporizhzhia oblast).
  • Kherson direction: Russian soldiers fired artillery targeting 27x settlements of Kherson oblast located on the right bank of the Dnipro River, including Dudchany, Beryslav, Vesele, Tyahynka, Antonivka, and Kherson.

In Chaplynka (Kherson oblast), Russian soldiers imposed a round-the-clock curfew from February 23 to February 25, 2023. The reason may be the transfer of military equipment from the temporarily occupied part of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea to reinforce the defense line.

In the town of Nova Kakhovka (Kherson oblast), the Russian army is conducting door-to-door rounds of the local residents’ homes. Russian troops are checking the registration and documents confirming ownership for the housing. Whenever these are not found, the residents are evicted within a week, with Russian troops moving in and quartered instead.

During the day of February 24, Ukrainian Air Force launched 14x air strikes on the concentrations of personnel and military equipment of Russian military. The Ukrainian Defense Forces also destroyed 1x Mi-24 attack helicopter and 1x Lancet UAV.
