The 550th day of the Russia-Ukraine War: official operational information by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on 27.08.2023.

Russia’s attacks on the civilian infrastructure in Ukraine

During the day, the Russian army conducted 11 missile and 32 aviation strikes, carrying out 38 shelling attacks from rocket artillery systems on the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, due to the Russian terrorist attacks, there are casualties and injuries among the civilian population. Residential buildings, schools, and other civilian infrastructure have suffered damages.

The likelihood of missile and aviation strikes across the entire territory of Ukraine remains high.

  • In the Volyn and Polissya directions, the operational situation remains relatively unchanged.
  • In the Siversk and Slobozhansk directions, the Russian army carried out an aviation strike in the vicinity of Kondrativka in the Sumy region. It conducted mortar and artillery shelling on more than 25 populated areas, including Khrynivka, Klyusy, Liskivshchyna in the Chernihiv region; Seredyna-Buda, Vilna Sloboda, Simeykyne, Volfyne, Kondrativka, Sadky in the Sumy region, as well as Okip, Strilecha, Oliynykove, Hatyshche, Nesterne in the Kharkiv region.
  • In the Kupyansk direction, the Russian army conducted aviation strikes in the areas of Nadiya, Tverdokhlibove, and Myasozharivka in the Luhansk region. Population centers in the Kharkiv region such as Kamyanka, Synkivka, Ivanivka, Kyslivka, and Berestove were subjected to Russian artillery and mortar shelling.
  • In the Lyman front, Russian troops carried out unsuccessful offensive actions in the Novoyehorivka area of the Luhansk region. More than 10 populated areas, including Karmazynivka, Nevske, Chervonopopivka, Kremenna, Kuzmine in the Luhansk region, and Torske, Dibrova, Spirne in the Donetsk region, experienced Russian artillery shelling.
  • In the Bakhmut direction, the Russian army conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the Klischiivka area of the Donetsk region. Over 10 populated areas were affected by hostile artillery shelling, including Vasyukivka, Markove, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Bila Hora, New York in the Donetsk region.
  • In the Avdiivka direction, Keramik, Novokalynove, Avdiivka, Karlivka, Pervomaiske, Nevelske in the Donetsk region came under Russian artillery and mortar fire.
  • In the Marinka direction, the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to repel the Russian troops’ advance in the Marinka area of the Donetsk region. The Russian army conducted an aviation strike in the Krasnohorivka area of the Donetsk region. Population centers including Oleksandropil, Hostre, Marinka, Pobeda, Paraskoviyivka, and Vodyane in the Donetsk region were affected by artillery shelling.
  • In the Shakhtarsk direction, the Russian army carried out an aviation strike in the Zolota Nyva area of the Donetsk region. Population centers like Bohoyavlenka, Shakhtarske, Vremivka, Staromayorske, and Rivnopil in the Donetsk region were affected by Russian artillery shelling.
  • In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Russian troops conducted aviation strikes in the areas of Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne, and Novodanylivka in the Zaporizhzhia region. Over 20 populated areas, including Novoandriyivka, Olhivske, Chervone, Hulyaypilske, Yehorivka, and Mali Shcherbaky in the Zaporizhzhia region, were affected by artillery shelling.
  • In the Kherson direction, the Russian army conducted aviation strikes in the areas of Mykolayivka, Mykilske, and Antonivka in the Kherson region. More than 10 populated areas, including Zmiyivka, Tomaryne, Burhunka, Tyahinka, Kherson, Bilozirka, and others, were affected by Russian artillery shelling.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue their offensive operation in the Melitopol direction, consolidating their positions at achieved boundaries and implementing counter-battery measures.

The Armed Forces’ aviation conducted 10 strikes on personnel concentration areas and 1 strike on Russian anti-aircraft missile complexes throughout the day.

Rocket troops and artillery units targeted an ammunition depot, disabled 2 radio electronic warfare stations, and neutralized 3 artillery systems in Russian firing positions over the course of the day.
