General Staff operational report August 14, 2023 on the Russian invasion of Ukraine

The 537th day of the Russia-Ukraine War: official operational information by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on 14.08.2023.

Russian offensive actions and impact on civilians

During the day, Russian troops carried out another missile and aviation strike on the territory of Ukraine. The Russian army used 8 Kalibr missiles and 15 Iranian combat drones, Shahed-136/131, in the Odesa region. As a result of successful combat actions by our anti-air defense forces, all Kalibr missiles and UAVs were destroyed.

Overall, the Russian army launched 12 missile and 67 aviation strikes, conducting more than 40 shelling attacks from rocket artillery systems on the positions of Ukrainian military and civilian settlements. Unfortunately, due to the Russian terrorist attacks, there are casualties and injuries among the civilian population. Residential buildings, a shopping center, a student dormitory, preschools, schools, and other civilian infrastructure have suffered destruction and damage.

The likelihood of missile and aviation strikes across the entire territory of Ukraine remains high. Throughout the day, 11 military clashes took place.

Ukrainian countermeasures

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue their offensive operation in the Melitopol and Berdyansk directions. They are consolidating their positions at the achieved frontlines and conducting counter-battery measures.

The Moscow regime continues its illegal integration of temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories into its socio-political sphere. For instance, in the settlement of Svatove in Luhansk Oblast, Russian troops demand that representatives of local administration and village councils voluntarily resign from their positions to change the leadership in local self-government bodies. They plan to create so-called “municipalities,” which will be led by local collaborators based on the results of pseudo-elections in the captured territories on the same voting day in Russia on September 10.

During the day, the aviation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out 1 strike on a command post, 7 strikes on personnel concentration areas, armament, and military equipment storage areas, and 3 strikes on Russian anti-aircraft missile systems.

Additionally, Ukrainian troops successfully destroyed Russian attack helicopter Ka-52.
