General Staff operational report August 23, 2022 on the Russian invasion of Ukraine

The patriotic Ukrainian people’s resistance to a Russian military invasion is still going strong on day 181.

Russia is still concentrating its efforts on taking complete control of the Donetsk area, holding onto the districts of Kherson that have been seized, as well as parts of the Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Mykolaiv regions in Ukraine, and regaining the combat readiness of troops that have incurred losses.

The situation is unaltered in the directions of Volyn, Polissya, and Siverskyi. In the Chernihiv oblast, the Russian occupants shelled the area around Mykolaivka and Zalizny Mist with barrel artillery.
The territories around the towns of Uda, Sosnivka, Protopopivka, Slatyne, Tsyrkuny, Kharkiv, Petrivka, Velyki Prohody, Ruski Tyshki, Pytomnyk, and Korobochkyne were shelled by Russian invaders in the Kharkiv direction. Russian airstrikes were conducted close to Pytomnyk, Kostiantynivka, and Verkhniy Saltiv. The Russian Federation used drones to conduct illegal reconnaissance operations and modify artillery firing on Ukrainian territory.

Russian shelling was reported close to Nortsivka, Dolyna, and Dibrivne in the direction of Sloviansk. Russian soldiers conducted airstrikes close to Bohorodychne. Their UAV performed illegal aerial reconnaissance near Nova Dmytrivka in Ukraine.

Siversk, Hryhorivka, and Bilenke were attacked by a variety of Russian artillery fire coming from the area of Kramatorsk. Attacks by the Russian army at Tetyanivka and Pryshyb involved aircraft. Russia conducted illegal surveillance of Ukrainian UAV forces’ positions.

Fire damage was reported in the neighbourhoods of Bakhmut, Bakhmutske, and Kodema in the direction of Bakhmut. Russian airstrikes were carried out close to Soledar and Bakhmut.

By battling in the direction of the settlement of Zaitseve, the Russian occupants made an unsuccessful effort at reconnaissance and withdrew.

Russian soldiers attempted to push on the communities of Soledar, Kodema, Bakhmut, Zaitseve, and Kurdyumivka with offensive and assault activities, but were unsuccessful and withdrew.

The Russian army persisted in firing from all of its available artillery in the vicinity of Avdiyivka, Opytne, Vodiane, Novobakhmutivka, and Nevelske. Russian airstrikes were reported close to Krasnohorivka and Mariyinka.

Russian invaders attempted to use offensive tactics to get past Ukrainian forces’ fortifications and march into the communities of Krasnohorivka, Pervomayske, and Nevelske, but it was unsuccessful and retreated haphazardly.

Russian soldiers fired from barrel and jet artillery close to Pavlivka and Velyka Novosilka in the direction of Novopavlivsk. The tactical posture in the direction of Novomyhailivka and Zolota Nyva was improved, although ineffectively.

Russia shelled the Posad-Pokrovske, Oleksandrivka, Prybuzke, Lupareve, Myrne, Novohryhorivka, Chervona Dolyna, Pervomayske, Kyselivka, Liubomyrivka, Andriyivka, Novooleksandrivka, Mykolaivka, Knyazivka, and Ivanivka villages in the direction of South Buh.

Nearby Trudolyiubivka, Andriyivka, and Novohryhorivka Russian airstrikes were reported. The Russian Federation aggressively employed UAVs to illegally ascertain Ukrainian soldiers’ locations and modify artillery fire.

The naval force of the Russian army in the Black and Azov Seas is still obstructing civilian commerce in the Black Sea’s northwest corner and destroying military objects and deep-lying infrastructure pieces in Ukraine.
