Operational report September 02, 2022 by the General Staff of AFU on the Russian invasion of Ukraine

The official operational information by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the 191st day of the Russia-Ukraine War (02.09.2022).

In order to retain the seized districts in the Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Mykolaiv areas and to create invasion conditions for restarting the attack, the Russian Federation continues to concentrate its efforts on these goals.

On the territory of Ukraine, Russian soldiers launched airstrikes and missile attacks against military and civilian targets.

There have been no substantial changes to the situation in the Polissya and Volyn directions. The enhancing of providing a threat on the part of the Belarusian-Ukrainian border in the Brest and Gomel districts is still being carried out by Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus units.

The republic of Belarus’s airspace and territory continue to pose a threat of air and missile strikes.

Russia still maintains certain Russian federation military units in the border regions of the Bryansk and Kursk regions in the Siversky region. With mortars and barrel artillery, it bombarded Pushkari, Khrinivka, and Senkivka in Chernihiv oblast and Sukhodil, Nova Sloboda, and Novovasylivka in Sumy oblast.

In order to maintain control over the captured borders and supply channels in the Kharkiv oblast, Russian troops are undertaking combat actions in the Slobozhansky direction. They look for areas where Ukrainian troops’ defences are vulnerable so that they can strengthen the tactical position.

The Russian army shelled the regions in Ukraine around the communities of Udy, Ruski Tyshky, Cherkaski Tyshky, Pytomnyk, Velyki Prohody, Staryi Saltiv, Petrivka, Peremoha, Dementiyivka, and Pryshyb in the Kharkiv direction.

Russia conducted airstrikes near the Ukrainian communities of Shestakove, Bairak, Ruski Tyshky, and Vesele.

Tanks, barrel artillery, and multiple rocket launcher systems were used to cause fire damage to military and civilian facilities in the Sloviansk direction at the communities of Dolyna, Krasnopillia, Brazhkivka, and Dibrivne, Ukraine.

Russian troops are concentrating their efforts to carry out offensive activities in the Bakhmut and Avdiyivka directions in the Donetsk direction. They are attempting to strengthen their tactical position in the direction of Kramatorsk and Novopavlovsk while causing fire damage to Ukrainian defenders. The Ukrainian Defense Forces’ actions are being restricted in an effort to stop them from being directed in other ways.

Russians shelled the communities of Bohorodychne, Hryhorivka, Donetske, Verkhnyokamianske, Ivano-Daryivka, Rozdolivka, and Vesele in the Kramatorsk direction in Ukraine using mortars, tanks, barrel and jet fire.

Russia conducted an airstrike near the community of Verkhnokamianske.

The Russian Federation attacked the Ukrainian villages of Sukha Balka, Yuryivka, Bakhmutske, Maiorsk, Zaitseve, Soledar, Bakhmut, Yakovlivka, and Bilohorivka in the direction of Bakhmut with mortars, tanks, barrel and jet artillery, as well as airstrikes in Zaytseve, Vesela Dolyna, Soledar, Bakhmut, and Yakovlivka.

In Bakhmutske, Bakhmut, Vesela Dolyna, and Mayorsk, as well as other locations, Ukrainian Defense Forces units stopped Russian onslaught.

The Russian army opened fire from the communities of Krasnohorivka, Avdiyivka, Vesele, Opytne, Vodiane, Tonenke, Pervomayske, and Karlivka in the direction of Avdiyivka.

In the regions of Opytne, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske communities, Ukrainians effectively resisted the onslaught of Russian troops.

Russia’s attempts to launch attacks against the communities of Avdiyivka and Krasnohorivka were also repulsed.

In the Novopavlivskyi direction, Russian forces bombarded Krasnohorivka, Novomykhaylivka, Mykilske, Prechystivka, Velyka Novosilka, Bohoyavlenka, Novomaiorsk, and Neskuchne Ukrainian urban areas with mortars, tanks, barrel artillery, and many rocket launchers.

Russia is focusing on keeping previously invaded lines and positions in the direction of South Buh.

Russia conducted shelling of the positions of Ukrainian defenders and civilian infrastructure from tanks, barrel and jet artillery in the areas of settlements of Stepova Dolyna, Oleksandrivka, Posad-Pokrovske, Prybuzke, Novomykolayivka, Liubomyrivka, Novohryhorivka, Kyselivka, Pervomayske, Kobzartsi, Partyzanske, Chervona Dolyna, Shyroke, Bereznehuvate , Velyke Artakove, Andriyivka, Novoselivka, Shevchenkove, Olhyne, Myroliubivka, Liubymivka and Petrivka.

It carried out airstrikes in the areas of the settlements of Lozove, Sukhyi Stavok, Velyke Artakove, Khreshchenivka.

In the Black Sea and Azov sea zones, the Russian Federation’s main efforts are focused on conducting illegal reconnaissance and blocking civilian shipping in the northwestern part of the Black Sea. Russian carriers of sea-based cruise missiles of the Kalibr type are ready to use high-precision weapons.

Russia’s gasoline and oil storage was destroyed in the town of Novoosynivka, Kharkiv Region, as a consequence of effective fire damage done by the Ukrainian Defense Forces during the night of August 31 to September 1. It is being determined how many pieces of Russian machinery and employees were destroyed.

As a consequence of the fire damage to Russia’s site at the old motor-transport business in Tavriysk, Kherson oblast, on August 30, the Russian invaders lost more than 20 pieces of weaponry and military equipment, as well as unspecified amounts of troops.
