Operational report September 08, 2022 by the General Staff of AFU on the Russian invasion of Ukraine

The 197th day of the Russia-Ukraine War: official operational information by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for 08.09.2022.

The Russian Federation’s major focus is still on taking over all of Donetsk oblast while holding onto the districts of Kherson that were invaded together with parts of Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Mykolayiv oblasts in Ukraine.

Russian unmanned aerial vehicles continuously conduct illegal aerial surveillance and make improvements to the troop’s logistical support.

Russia has launched over dozen of missiles and two dozens of airstrikes on targets on Ukrainian soil in the last 24 hours. It attacked the most in the Ukrainian urban area of in the areas of Kramatorsk, Siversk, Kharkiv, Tsyrkuny, Velyka Novosilka, Velyki Prohody, Sloviansk, Ivano-Daryivka, Bohoiavlenka, Zaytseve, Soledar, Bakhmut, Bakhmutske, Kostiantynivka, Vremivka, Prechystivka, Kostromka, Dorozhnianka, Trudove, Chervone, Vysokopillya, Ternovi Pody, Lozove, Bilohirka, Chervyn Yar, Sukhyi Stavok, Bezimenne, Andriyivka, Bila Krynytsya, and Olhivske.

Regarding the directions of Volyn and Polissya, nothing has altered.

The Republic of Belarus’ airspace and territory continue to pose a threat of missile and air attacks on the territory of Ukraine.

Russia persisted in attacking Ukrainian military and civilian targets in different directions, specifically:

  • in the vicinity of the towns of Bachivsk, Ulanove, and Zapsillia in the Sumy oblast on the Siverskyi direction from mortars and jet artillery;
  • in the Avdiyivka area from Russia shelled from mortars, barrel and jet artillery Kamyanka, Krasnohorivka, Avdiyivka, Opytne, Vodiane, Pervomaiske and Vesele Ukrainian villages;
  • in the South Buh direction, the Ukrainian settlements of Stepova Dolyna, Oleksandrivka, Veselyi Kut, Tavriyske, Liubomyrivka, Blahodatne, Pervomayske, Shevchenkove, Novohryhorivka, Bilohirka, and Myrne came under Russian fire;
  • the regions of Duvanka, Kostiantynivka, Udy, Dymentivka, Borshcheva, Velyki Prohody, Cherkaski Tyshky, Ruski Tyshky, Bairak, Staryi Saltiv, and Peremoha were targeted by Russian barrel and jet artillery in the Kharkiv direction;
  • the Ukrainian Kramatorsk territory was fired by Russian soldiers from tanks, mortars, barrel and jet artillery near Verkhniokamyanske, Bohorodychne, Tetianivka, Sydorov, Sivers’k, Spirne, Vesele, Hryhorivka and Pryshyb;
  • in Novopavlivsk were attacked by Russia urban areas of the Ukrainian Novomaiorske, Yehorivka, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Velyka Novosilka;
  • Ukrainian Zaporizhzhia oblast was attacked by Russia from barrel and jet artillery, and heavy weapons on the territory of Vremivka, Novoandriyivka, Dorozhnianka, Vremivka and Novopil;
  • in the Bakhmut area, Russians attacked Vesela Dolyna, Novobakhmutivka, New York (Donetsk region, Ukraine), Yuriyivka, Zaytseve, Soledar, Bakhmutske, Bakhmut, Yakovlivka, Bilohorivka and Maiorsk;
  • near Sloviansk, Russian soldiers fired from barrel and rocket artillery in the areas of Hrushuvaha, Dolyna, Hrushuvaha, Krasnopillia, Nova Dmytrivka, Virnopillya, Karnaukhivka.

Russian troops continue to suffer losses. The Russian army incurred considerable casualties, the amount of which is being detailed, as a result of the fire’s impact on its concentration of soldiers and military hardware on the grounds of the agricultural business “Ukraine” in the hamlet of Solodkovodne, Zaporizhzhia oblast.

Ukrainian Defense Forces units maintain their positions and stop Russia’s advance. In the towns of Hryhorivka, Kamianka, Dibrivne, Zaytseve, Maiorsk, Mykolayivka Druha, Pervomaiske, and Kostiantynivka, the Ukrainian army effectively resisted Russian assaults.

The Ukrainian Defence Forces’ aviation carried out more than three dozen attacks against strongholds and locations where the Russian Federation’s soldiers and equipment were concentrated in order to support the efforts of the ground units. 2 Russian Su-25 aircraft, 2 Ka-52 and Mi-24 helicopters, and 5 unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down by Ukrainian air defence units in various directions.

Ukrainian land-based troop formations’ missile and artillery units continue to carry out counter-battery warfare, logistical support disruption, damage to Russia’s personnel and combat equipment, and counter-battery combat. The Russian command post, gasoline and oil storehouse, and concentrations of soldiers, weapons, and military hardware were all devastated by the effect of the fire on this particular day.
