Votes bought for UAH 50-500

Parliamentary candidates and parties running for the Verkhovna Rada are trying to buy votes for UAH 50-500.
Deputy Director General of the Committee of Voters of Ukraine Natalia Lynnyk said this at a press conference on Monday, a Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“The price of a vote now ranges from UAH 50 to UAH 500, but it is lower than in 2012,” she said.
The lowest prices are offered in rural areas in Kirovohrad and Mykolaiv regions, and the most is paid in towns in Cherkasy region, she said.
Lynnyk said that during the last elections for the Verkhovna Rada the highest price for the bribery of voters was recorded at some constituencies in Kyiv, where candidates for MPs tried to violate the law, registered citizens as their campaign workers and paid them about UAH 1,200 per vote.
