Verkhovna Rada permits detention of terrorists for 3 to 30 days

Ukrainian lawmakers have approved a law permitting the preventive detention in the area of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) of persons involved in terrorist activity for more than 72 hours.
According to a Ukrinform correspondent, 232 MPs voted for a respective decision on Tuesday.
Law No. 4312a introduces amendments to the law of Ukraine on combating terrorism, according to which the preventive detention of persons involved in terrorist activities for more than 72 hours, but not more than 30 days, could be conducted in the area of the long-term anti-terrorist operation, as an exception, in order to ensure the protection of citizens, the state and society against terrorist threats.
