US provided Ukraine with the first Mi-17 helicopter

Ukraine received the first of 11 Mi-17 helicopters to be delivered by the United States on May 10.

Mi-17 transport helicopters were once destined for Afghanistan, but that was before the fall of the US-backed government.

Mi-17s are mostly used to carry troops and military equipment. It is noted that helicopters can be used to move soldiers on the battlefield and medical evacuation of a huge region in the battle for Donbas.

The United States will also provide Ukraine with equipment containing laser-guided devices that will make missiles more accurate.
