US promised Ukraine additional air defense systems after new Russian missile attack

The administration of US President Joe Biden condemned Russia’s latest massive missile attack on Ukraine, targeting mainly civilian infrastructure on December 16, 2022, and promised that the new aid package for the Armed Forces of Ukraine would include air defense equipment.

“Russia is again trying to put fear into the hearts of the Ukrainian people and to make it that much harder on them as winter is now upon them. Russian attacks hit largely civilian infrastructure,” noted the Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the National Security Council in the White House.

According to the representative of the administration, the United States is preparing a new package of assistance to Ukraine in the field of security, it will include air defense equipment.

John Kirby emphasized that the US was in constant contact with the Ukrainian side in order to determine the current needs of the country.

The Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the National Security Council in the White House also announced that the first part of $53 million of energy equipment had arrived in Ukraine from the United States.
