“The Biden administration is providing $125 million for electrical parts and other supplies to help repair crews in Ukraine keep up with Russian strikes pounding the country’s electrical system,” noted the USAID administrator.

In particular, it is planned to purchase backup power for the water supply and centralized heating systems of Kyiv. The funding will also be used to replenish gas turbines, transformers and other power equipment.

The specified $125 million will be allocated within the framework of additional funding for Ukraine approved by Congress in December 2022.

On January 14, 2023, the energy infrastructure of Ukraine was attacked by Russia’s 12th missile strike.
