UN Secretary-General arrived in Kyiv to discuss Black Sea Grain Initiative

The Office of the Spokesperson for the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres noted on March 8, 2023, on Twitter, that UN Secretary General arrived in the capital of Ukraine on an official visit. He will meet with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss the continuation of the grain agreement.

“Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is in Kyiv. Later today, he will meet the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv to discuss the continuation of the Black Sea Grain Initiative in all its aspects, as well as other pertinent issues,” reported the Office of the Spokesperson for the United Nations Secretary-General.

This is the third visit of Antonio Guterres to Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion.

Uaposition memo: In July 2022, a grain agreement was signed between the UN, Turkey, Ukraine – the agreement allows for the controlled export of grain from three Ukrainian Black Sea ports. It was initially valid for 120 days until November and was then extended for another four months after intense negotiations.
