UN says about almost 3,000 killed in east of Ukraine

The number of people killed in the east of Ukraine is almost 3,000 today.
Ivan Simonovic, U.N. Assistant Secretary General for Human Rights said, presenting a report by a U.N. monitoring mission Friday, a Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“The current number of killed is 2,593 – close to 3,000 if we include the 298 victims of the MH17 (Malaysian airliner) plane crash,” Simonovic said.
He noted that civilian casualties grew over a recent month.
According to the UN data, since mid-April and until mid-June, 11 people were killed on average daily. Over the last month, this number grew to 36 people daily, Simonovic stressed.
