Two Ukrainians released from militant captivity – Poroshenko

Ukrainian citizens Volodymyr Zhemchuhov and Yuriy Suprun have been released from the captivity of the Russian-backed militants in Donbas, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko wrote on Facebook.

”Volodymyr Zhemchuhov and Yuriy Suprun have been freed from captivity! They will receive medical assistance they require,” the president wrote.

”We will continue to fight for the liberation of all Ukrainians,” said Petro Poroshenko.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in mid-June, the representative of Ukraine to the humanitarian subgroup in the Trilateral Contact Group, Iryna Gerashchenko, stated that Ukraine demanded from militants an immediate release of a seriously wounded Ukrainian citizen Volodymyr Zhemchuhov, whose limbs had been amputated and eyes gauged out.

On April 13, 2016 the UN Office in Ukraine told about a representative of the UN Mission Yuriy Suprun, a former SBU employee, who had been captured by militants. The UN Office has urged the militants to release the man.
