The National Bank of Italy and the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) are launching a cash hryvnia-euro exchange program for Ukrainian refugees on June 21.

Citizens of Ukraine, including minors who have received a temporary residence permit in Italy or who have been granted international protection, will be able to exchange hryvnias for euros – up to 10 thousand hryvnias per person.
Banknotes of 100 to 1,000 hryvnias will be accepted for exchange (lower denomination banknotes and coins will not be accepted for exchange). Also, significantly worn banknotes and defective banknotes will not be exchanged.
About 400 bank branches are expected to take part in the program. A list of them and the current exchange rate will be published on the Bank of Italy’s website.
The exchange will be carried out using a fixed exchange rate of hryvnia to the euro, which will be determined by the NBU.
As reported, the cash hryvnia exchange program has already been launched in Poland, Germany, Belgium, Sweden and the Netherlands.
