Ukrainian PM, U.S. senator discuss strengthening of military cooperation

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk and U.S. Senator and Deputy Head of the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee James Inhofe have discussed energy security and the strengthening of military and technical cooperation.
The head of government welcomed the efforts of the U.S. Senate to further strengthen cooperation with Ukraine, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.
“Among the key topics discussed at the meeting were energy security and the strengthening of military and technical cooperation,” reads the report.
Yatseniuk also pointed to common positions of the European Commission and the Ukrainian government in negotiations on the parameters of natural gas supplies from Russia.
The prime minister said that Ukraine would continue its efforts to diversify energy supply sources to reduce its dependence on Russia.
Yatseniuk also stressed the need for Russia to take concrete steps aimed at de-escalation of the situation in the east of Ukraine in accordance with the Minsk agreements.
