Ukrainian fishing industry suffered $47M in losses as a result of the Russian aggression in Ukraine

The Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Vitaliy Holovnia noted that according to preliminary data, as of November 1, 2022, the Ukrainian fishing industry suffered a loss of 47 million dollars due to the armed aggression of the Russian Federation.

“According to the latest report, which was worked on by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, the State Agency of Fisheries of Ukraine together with the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations, the figures are as follows. We have losses of 21.6 million dollars in aquaculture and 25.4 million dollars in industrial fishing. These are preliminary data for November 1, 2022,” clarified the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

Vitaliy Holovnia noted that these numbers are not final, they will increase many times over after the liberation of the entire territory of Ukraine.

In addition, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, in 2022, industrial fishing in the country’s reservoirs due to the armed aggression of the Russian Federation decreased by more than 70% compared to 2021.
