Ukrainian economy to contract by 8% – World Bank

The Ukrainian economy will contract by 8% this year because of the war in Donbas, the World Bank said on Thursday, according to AFP.
Thus, an earlier forecast is downgraded and further shrinkage in 2015 is forecast.
“Disruption in economic activity in the east has resulted in a sharper GDP decline than we expected,” said Qimiao Fan, the bank’s director for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova who presented the latest report in Kyiv.
