Ukrainian banks attract more deposits

April saw a rise in the national currency deposits attracted by the banking system by 2% to UAH 387.956 billion, and foreign currency deposits grew by 1.7%, to $13.820 billion, according to the latest data.
Balances related to hryvnia loans decreased by 0.7% in April to UAH 427.118 billion, and those under foreign currency loans rose by 0.1% to $22.306 billion, according to the National Bank of Ukraine.
As UNIAN reported earlier, national currency deposits at Ukrainian banks showed a downward trend in March, having decreased by 1.2% to UAH 380.513 billion, foreign currency ones increased by 1.8% to $13.562 billion.
In 2015, the volume of deposits in the national currency increased by 6.2% to UAH 388.7 billion, and that in the foreign currency was down by 32.1%, to $13.2 billion.
