The command of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted on October 19, 2022, that Ukrainian military shot down 223 Iranian-made “Shahed-136” kamikaze drones, which Russia used to attack Ukrainian cities, during the period from September 13 to October 19.

“As of October 19, since the first downing of an Iranian-made kamikaze drone “Shahed-136″ on the territory of Ukraine (September 13, 2022, in the city of Kupyansk, the Kharkiv region), the air defense of the Air Force of Ukraine and other components of the Defense Forces of Ukraine destroyed 223 drones of this type,” says Ukraine’s Air Force.
It is noted that anti-aircraft missile units, fighter aircraft, self-propelled anti-aircraft guns, mobile MANPADS fire groups, anti-aircraft guns, large-calibre machine guns and other weapons are involved in the destruction of the “Shahed-136” loitering munitions, which Russian troops label as “Geranium-2”.
Earlier, it was noted that the air defense of Ukraine destroys 85 % of Shahed-136 drones launched by Russia for strikes on Ukrainian territory.
